My Bucketlist

  1. Iceland – I think Iceland is such a beautiful country. I mean I have only seen pictures, but still. And also everybody who has visited this country tells me how amazing it is. Why do I want to go there? Simply because I want to see the Northern Lights and go on a backpacking/ tracking trip to glaciers, mountains and hidden lagoons. I want to escape to a beautiful untouched landscape. Iceland gives me the possibility for all of this.
  2. French Polynesia – Now we come to the very opposite of my No. 1 (Iceland). Ever since I saw a documentation about the islands of the pacific. Who has not dreamed about the white sand beaches, with the crystal clear water and colorful fish. About the palm trees and the never-ending sunshine. Most of all I fell in love with Bora Bora (yes, I know) probably one of the most famous (and expensive) islands in the Pacific. But also one of the most beautiful. I mean just look it up, you will not be able to stop thinking about Bora Bora.
  3. France (Provence) – Okay, so this is also based on a movie I saw: “A good year”(2006). Just watch that movie and you will fall in love with the house the characters live in ( in France). The landscape… everything ist just so perfect. I want to walk through the lavender fields in the middle of nowhere. Feeling nothing but the wind in my hair and the warm sun.
  4. Patagonia – Nature, Nature, Nature.
  5. Nepal (Himalaya)
  6. New Zealand – I don’t know how often I have looked up flights to New Zealand or the costs of the bus services around the country. I have basically organized the entire trip. All I need is time. How do I even begin to start explaining why I want to go there?
  7. New York
  8. Norway Fjords (Trolltunga etc.)
  9. Santorin
  10. Vietnam/ Thailand ( The little islands in the water)
  11. Japan
  12. Canada ( Banff National Park)
  13. USA Road Trip
  14. Maledives
  15. Carribean
  16. Costa Rica
  17. Antarctica
  18. Rio de Janeiro
  19. Madagaskar
  20. India
  21. Sri Lanka

Coconuts and the Caribbean

I always imagined the Caribbean to be a magical place. With palm trees, coconuts, white sand beaches and blue, clear water.  And it was true, I mean I kind of was, goven I did not notice that I was travelling to the Caribbean during the rainy season, which made the water have a colour that was not blue and clear, but rather brownish. But that was no problem; I mean why should it be? The water was so warm, it was truly unbelievable!!!

I recommend: It is not a problem to travel to countries during the riny season since everything will be so green and the rain will sometimes cool down the temperatures a bit which can be delightful.

But what I will never forget is the atmosphere that I noticed in this part of Costa Rica. In the evening when we would sit in little Restaurants at the beach, dinking Mango Smoothies and enjoying the sunset behind the silouhettes of the palm trees, I would feel so happy.

Hanging Bridges, Arena Costa Rica

Yes… I took a lot of photos in the Arenal Hanging Bridges Park…. But hey.. It was worth it. This place is so beautiful and so Costa Rica. When I saw that we were going to a Hanging bridge park on our tour program, I certainly did not imagine to be like this. These bridges were so high! It was unbelievable! You were literally walking in the middle of the rainforest trees. And had it not been so cloudy that day, I believe we would have been able to spot the Arenal Volcano… which was right next to the park. But I guess what did I expect in going to Costa Rica during the Rainy season (during the summer months in Europe). Nevertheless it was a adventure… and that is what this tip was all about.

Rainforest, Arenal Costa Rica

When I took this photo, I was standing on a Hanging Bridge, trying not to fall, while it started to rain and yet I managed to take this breathtaking photo. Once I looked at it back in the hotel I was soooooo happy. Because this photo, is not only a photo. It somehow conveys the atmosphere of that experience. It all seems so mystic. So unreal. All I can think of when I see this picture is…wow.

Fascinated by Paris Part Two

After that we took the train to see the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower (and of course take some pictures). But since we were tired from the whole trip, we just wanted to go to sleep and went to our Hotel.

The next day was a busy day. We started off by going to Madame Toussouds. It was my wish to go there, because I had never been and everyone was telling me to go, because it was so awsome. And I, what did I do, instead of using my (little) time in Paris? Of course I went to Madame Taussouds.

We waited in line for three hours! Three! My tipp: Buy skip-the-line tickets if you really want to go, because this place is cramped full. After three long hours of waiting I finally got to meet all of my favorite celebrities. But after just half an hour the whole experience was over again, because, we had looked at everything. Hmmmm.

So after that was over and I had finally… Continue reading “Fascinated by Paris Part Two”

Beautiful Bulgaria

Here are some of the photos I took during my vacation in Bulgaria. Enjoy!

Why?

I will try and explain why I started this blog.

Well, I am sitting here going through Instagram and notice how many people share beautiful pictures of them in cool, remote places, traveling abroad. Since traveling has always been my big dream, I get really, really jealous. So now I am thinking about what I can do to stop this jealousness…

I will simply try to document traveling experience of my own. Why will this stop my jealousness, you may ask? I guess because it will make me feel like I am doing something different than sitting on my couch the entire day.

Okay so this may appear a little cheesy, but here is a quote to start my blog (Sorry…):

“Traveling ist he only thing you can buy that makes you richer.”

So on that note let´s get started.

P.S. If you have any tips generally about traveling feel free to comment. ( I am not very experienced in traveling yet )

Fascinated by Paris

I have to say I went to Paris expecting quite a lot. I had heard so much about the „City of Love“, and now wanted to see for myself what all of the fuss is about.

Since Paris is not that far from Home (1000 km) (I thought it was far but other people apparently did not) we decided to go by car. I can tell you it was exhausting. Not because you had to sit all the time or something like that, but simply because I would always think about how much easier it would have been to catch a plane to Paris instead of driving 10 hours. But of course since it was the holiday season going by plane was simply not an option, since the fights were very expensive.

We had planned to stay in Paris for three days (which was not enough). If you go to such a huge city like Paris, that has so much history and so many Museums and other fun things to offer, you should at least stay five days.

Okay, so we arrived in Paris around lunch time. We booked a simple hotel, the ibis Budget in Bagnolet. It offered a near train station that would bring us to the city centre in about 10 minutes. And that was basically all we needed. I mean you don´t always need a five star hotel only to have a great stay, if you are in such a city like Paris you will not stay a lot of time in the hotel anyway. You will be out and about. Sorry, I just felt like saying that.

We decided to just use the rest of the day to make a little sightseeing tour on our own. We took the train from Gallieni to Reaumur Sebastol and then the train to Cite. This station was on the little island in the Seine.

The first landmark we saw was Notre Dame. The sun was shining and Notre Dame looked just so beautiful. There were A LOT of people outside waiting to get in, but somehow we managed to get in quite fast. And what we saw (and heard) was impressive. There was a choir singing inside. Well, you might say now, you can hear a choir anywhere, why was it so special that you have to mention it here? Well it was so special, because I have to say that I have never heard something sound so beautiful. The acoustics in Notre Dame are just incredible and with these fabulous voices it just created a mysical, beautiful atmoshere.

I recommend everyone who is in Paris to visit Notre Dame. And not just look at it from the outside, but also go inside and take a look, because it will take your breath away!!!
